The Book of Mormon on Broadway

Jacob got us tickets to go see a musical on Broadway! We went to see 'The Book of Mormon' at the Eugene O'Neil Theatre. The theater was beautiful, it's been around since 1925.
The Book of Mormon was written by the same guys who made South Park. It's about two Mormon missionaries who go to a small town in Africa. It's so funny. We laughed the whole time, and the cast was amazing.
We didn't dress up to go to the show, because it was a cold night and we decided we wanted to be warm for the show.

The New York Historical Society museum

One of my favorite museums in the city is the New York Historical museum. It's right next to the Museum of Natural History.
The New York Historical always has interesting exhibits. The reason we went this time was to see an exhibit on the clothing women wore in their day-to-day lives from the 1800s until now.
I didn't get any pictures but it was really interesting to see how fashion has changed since back then. Back in the 1800s they repaired and re-used literally everything until it fell apart.
The museum also had an exhibit about the history of pets! People have been taking pictures of their pets for as long as we've had cameras! And before that, they were painting pictures of their pets!
One of my favorites was Reddy the Cat. His owner was William Davis Hassler. Hassler was a photographer in the early 1900s who took a lot of photos of people in NYC, and he took a lot of pictures of Reddy!

Wheel Love Sparks

In February, Jacob participated in a game jam. A game jam is a competition where you have a limited amount of time to create a small video game, and the game has to follow a theme.
The game jame was called the Big Mode game jam. The theme was 'power' and contestants had about one week to complete the game. Jacob did the programming, his friend Mike did the art, and his friend John did the music.
The three of them created a game called 'Wheel Love Sparks' about a mad scientist who uses hamster wheels to generate power!
Your goal in the game is to play matchmaker with the hamsters so that they have baby hamsters. The more hamsters, the more power they generate by runing on their wheels!
It's a really cute game and they did a great job on it. We don't know yet if they won any awards in the competition.
