Tuesday - Packing up from Cincinnati
We had movers come to load our truck on Tuesday. But we had some bad luck - not only was it the hottest day of the year, but our air conditioning had gone out overnight. We had to lock the cats in the bathroom with fans running while movers loaded our truck and the maintenance man worked on the AC! Luckily the AC got fixed at about noon, and the movers finished up by 1 pm. Then it was on the road for a what we hoped was a 10 hour drive in a UHaul with most of our belongings. Jacob did all the driving and he did a great job getting us there safely. We booked a hotel in New Jersey near the end of our drive, and we got there after about 11 hours of driving.
Wednesday - and NYC traffic!
We got on the road at about 8:30 am to do the worst part of the whole trip - an hour in NYC rush hour traffic, in a big UHaul truck! The highway was very slow moving, it took us 20 minutes to go 5 miles! But we got to the apartment on time to meet the movers we hired to help unload. Jake even found parking(unfortunately in front of a fire hydrant, but he stayed with the truck in case the fire men showed up 😊) The movers were awesome, they had all our stuff unloaded in less than an hour! We did it! We were finally in our new apartment!
Unpacking and relaxing!
We were pretty exhausted from the driving and moving. We found our air mattress and blankets, and started unpacking some dishes. The rest of our day was mostly that! We had sandiwches for lunch at a nearby restaurant called Brooklyn Tree, and grabbed some New York style pizza for dinner!
Our neighborhood seems really nice and pretty. Lots of people walking their dogs. And we have a grocery store one block over!
Thursday - Flying back to Cincinnati
On Thursday we flew back to Cincinnati. Next Wednesday we'll be renting another van to drive up with the cats and our few remaining things. Wish Molly and Ruby good luck on their long drive! We plan to wake up very early and drive the whole way up to NYC to make it easy as possible for the cats. We'll probably have an update next week after officially moving in!
