Foragin at Forest Park
A few weeks back, I went on a foraging trip with my friend Abbie.
There is a man named 'The wildman Steve Brill' who hosts nature and foraging walks.
He's been teaching about nature for a long time. He hosts walks where you go through a park and learn about food you can forage from the parks. He teaches you what plants you can eat, and what recipes you can use the plants in.
My friend Abbie has done a lot of these tours, so she promised me it was safe to eat the plants we picked!
The tour was really cool, we went through a large park in Queens. Queens is a neighborhood of NYC. It took us about 45 minutes to get to the park.
The park was called 'Forest Park'. It is very large, with woods and walking trails. It reminded me a lot of Devou Park in Covington.
Some of the plants were good for medicine, while others were edible. My favorite was the yellow woodsorrel, it tasted like lemon! It was very inofrmative and fun, I would definitely go back for another foraging tour.
I'm also sharing a picture of me & Jake with our friends Abbie & Ross. Just to prove they are real! Abbie & Ross have been so welcoming to us here in NYC, and the 4 of use have had a lot of fun hanging out.
